Safe Processing of Cytostatic Agents

International studies show that working with cytostatic drugs may lead to a certain contamination of the environment.
In these studies, traces of cytostatic agents were found, for example on work surfaces and the outside surface of bottles. Moreover, contaminations on the floor outside the preparation rooms were detected. Decontamination of cytostatic agents is extremely difficult.

Cytostatic agents are known for their mutageneous, carcinogenous and teratogenous effect. The occupational exposure to cytostatic agents is therefore a central issue for the health of the nursing staff.
“We want that people who prepare, administer and dispose health-hazardous drugs are protected and feel safe at their place of work.”

PhaSeal® is the only clinically tested closed system for safe handling of cytostatic agents and other toxic drugs which prevents the transfer of impurities from the ambient air into the system and the escape of toxic aerosoles or vapors from the system through mechanical means (and not via secondary air valves or filters).

Current studies also showed that the use of the PhaSeal® system offers substantial financial benefits due to the fact that cytostatic agents can be prepared and stored more efficiently.
