Intended use

Complement factor H (CFH) is the first regulatory protein of the alternative pathway of the complement system. Factor H regulates complement both in fluid phase and on cellular surfaces. Genetic analyses reveal a clear association of CFH with different human diseases.

Mutations on Factor H result in pathology involving complement activation:

aHUS
Age-related macular degeneration
Dense deposit disease

Factor H is a direct modulator of cellular functions by binding to receptors:

influences cellular interaction
phagocytosis
antimicrobial activities
